Celebrating 47 Years Of Taco Casa In Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Today is a huge day in Tuscaloosa. It's the 47th birthday of one of our favorite restaurants, Taco Casa!
Back in 1974, former Alabama football player Rod Wilkin opened what would become known as one of Tuscaloosa's most beloved restaurants. The original location was on 10th Avenue, and that building is still there!
The love for Taco Casa runs deep through Alabama, and even nationwide. There are plenty of people who come here to visit or move away and still crave a Taco Casa burrito. The good news is that those beloved burritos are shipped nationwide.
A local food aficionado who moved away from Tuscaloosa said, When I wasn't working in Tuscaloosa, I would have them ship me burritos." Their go-to shipped order was always the combination burritos with extra hot sauce.
When I first moved to Tuscaloosa I never heard of Taco Casa but I quickly learned why people love it so much. I even documented my first Taco Casa experience. The sancho, taco burgers, chicken enchilada and sweet tea are my favorites.
Let's take a trip down memory lane in celebration of Taco Casa's 47th birthday.
