According to Deputy Jessica McDaniel, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, TCSO deputies and Northport Police officers were called to assist a school resource officer who requested backup after a fight broke out on campus.

Upon arrival, deputies found the fight had been contained and made "more than five" juvenile arrests, McDaniel said. She said police believe an incident or argument that began off campus carried over to the school and led to the Thursday morning fight.

No other details were provided as Alabama law prohibits law enforcement officers from releasing details regarding incidents involving juvenile parties.

Staff at the school referred questions about the incident to the Tuscaloosa County School System's central office.

A spokeswoman for the system confirmed deputies responded to the school Thursday morning and said the SRO who called for backup was following standard procedure.
