Alabama Basketball Lands Transfer Out of West Virginia
The Alabama Crimson Tide women's basketball struck again in the transfer portal on Friday. Head coach Kristy Curry lands her fourth transfer portal player this offseason as forward JeAnna Cunningham announced her intention to join the Crimson Tide on her social media accounts on Friday.
Cunningham is a 6-foot-4 forward who's played her last two seasons in the Big 12, playing for the West Virginia Mountaineers. She appeared in just 13 games for the Mountaineers over the last two seasons.
The sophomore was ranked as a 4-star prospect and the No. 13 forward in the nation as a high schooler in the class of 2020. She struggled to get on the court at West Virginia, totaling just four points, five rebounds and four blocks during her time in Morgantown.
Cunningham is the fourth incoming transfer that Curry has landed this offseason, joining Sarah Ashlee Barker, Ryan Cobbins and Aaliyah Nye. Alabama will enter the 2022-23 season with elevated expectations as the team returns all five starters on a team that closed last year by winning 10 of its final 14 games.
The Brentwood, New York native attended St. Francis Prep School and chose to attend West Virginia over offers from Boston College, Rutgers, Illinois and UCF.
