A Youth Entrepreneur Pop Up Shop is Coming to Northport

Think back to the days of your childhood.  Do you remember what you wanted to be when you would grow up? Is it something you’re still passionate about?  Would you have started working towards that as a child?

Luckily, there are some children who have already started the process of becoming entrepreneurs. Some already have products and branding.

One of the best ways for adults to prepare for the future is to provide a jump start for today’s youth.

Sunday, July 5, 205 Youth Outreach and Team BBE will host a Youth Entrepreneur Pop Up Shop at the Northport Community Center (2100 Park St) from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.  This is for entrepreneurs under the age of 19.

Vendors are encouraged to make a $20 donation, which includes the price of a participant’s t-shirt. For everyone else, a donation of $1 will gain entry.  The wearing of masks is mandatory!

This event is but one of the ways 205 Youth Outreach and Team BBE enhance the lives of area youth.

In early June, the groups honored young entrepreneurs by providing them with gift cards.  These were some of the recipients:

Other honorees included JNicole Minks, SweetLipsbyElise, NeNe's Designs/NeNe's Barbie Lips, and ZJ's Cultural Collections.

It's a remarkable thing for adults to pursue their own dreams. Making sure their children have a head start to success is taking it to a different level.

This gives other parents a new question to ask their children. It's time to graduate from "what would you like to be when your grow up" to "what business would you like to start now?"

It's not too late to become a vendor at the Youth Entrepreneur Pop Up Shop, but if you don't want to be a vendor, at least show your support to the young entrepreneurs who do participate. As an added bonus, take your children to see the examples of other children who are taking strides to be their own bosses first.
