The Tuscaloosa Police Department is asking area residents to be on the lookout for a 97-year-old man who is missing after going for a long walk Tuesday.

Lt. Teena Richardson, a spokesperson for TPD, said Cecil B. McCallister was last seen at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Highway 216 near Hurricane Creek.

Richardson said McCallister is described roughly 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved plaid shirt, jeans and a baseball cap. She said McCallister frequently takes long walks near his residence and is good health for his age, but he did not return home Tuesday evening.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department and Tuscaloosa Fire & Rescue Service's Wilderness Rescue Team and Red Mountain Rescue Dogs are searching the area for Mr. McAllister, but they are asking anyone who has seen him or has information on his whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 205-752-7867, or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at 205-349-2121.
