With just under two weeks until Christmas day arrives, it's time to really start ramping up the holiday spirit.

Thankfully Tuscaloosa has plenty to offer people over the next 10 days to help you get in the mood and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year. We've searched the internet, checked social media, and been on the lookout around town to put this list of Christmas and holiday events happening in our area.

  • Holidays on the River

    Tuscaloosa Amphitheater

    Open through January 6

    Holidays on the River is back at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater with ice skating, music, movie nights, and more. It's open every day of the week except for Monday and many nights have different themes. Get the full schedule here. 

  • Tinsel Trail

    Tuscaloosa Riverwalk

    Already in its 5th year, the Tinsel Trail features hundreds of Christmas trees decorated by local businesses and groups. The trees line the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk all month and it's a great place to take the family. Get more information here. 

  • A Christmas Carol Performance

    Bean Brown Theatre

    Running through December 17

    Visit the Shelton State theater to see this traditional tale in which four mysterious spirits visit Ebenezer Scrooge to help him find the true meaning of Christmas. The show is good for the entire family and tickets are $14 for children, $17 for seniors, and $19 for adults. Get more information here. 

  • Christmas Market

    Monarch Espresso Bar

    December 14

    The Monarch Espresso Bar in downtown Tuscaloosa is hosting the first Christmas Market on December 14. Monarch will be selling coffee bags, handmade pottery, cookie boxes, pies, new t-shirts, pins and more. Several local vendors will be set up and selling floral arrangements, handmade jewelry, apparel, makeup and amazing food. Learn more here. 

  • Holiday Hoopla at CHOM

    Children's Hands-On Museum

    December 16

    The Children's Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa is hosting Holiday Hoopla from 10am - 4pm on Saturday, December 16. you'll have the chance to make your way through the the ornament and gift creating stations before getting the chance to wrap them up before you leave. Learn more here. 

  • Visits with Santa

    Midtown Village

    December 16 & 23

    Each Saturday in December, Midtown Village is having 'Visits with Santa.' This is a free event and Santa will have a surprise for every child who visits. Childen will be able to write their Letters to Santa and drop them in Santa's Mailbox. Learn more here. 

  • Sunday with Santa

    Tuscaloosa River Market

    December 17

    Sunday with Santa presented by Buffalo Rock is an event for the entire family. Join them at the Tuscaloosa River Market on Sunday, December 17 from 3-6 p.m. for a professional picture with Santa, story time, train rides along the Trail, holiday crafts, child friendly activities and more!  Get more info here.

  • Annual Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra Christmas Celebration

    Moody Music Building Concert Hall

    December 18

    This program of classical and contemporary holiday favorites is an annual tradition that is not to be missed. The Tuscaloosa Symphony will once again partner with the beautiful voices of the Alabama Choir School and the Prentice Concert Chorale. The event will begin at 6 pm on the UA campus with wine and live chamber music. Learn more here. 

  • Christmas Cow Party with Moosie

    Children's Hands-On Museum

    December 23

    The Children's Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa will be hosting a Christmas Cow Party with Moosie on Saturday, December 23 from 10am-4pm. Sing songs and carols and enjoy Christmas stories and holiday tales with “Riverboat John” renowned storyteller and musician. The event will include special cookies and milk snack,  Santa Cows story, and a chance to make a Santa Cow ornament! Learn more here.
