August 16, 1977, a day that will live on in music history infamy, it was the day that we lost The Greatest Rock N' Roll Performer Ever, Elvis Presley.

Do you remember where you were when you first heard the news? Maybe you don't, (because maybe you were not born yet), but for those of us who were around back then, we DO remember.

In my case, I was sitting in our family living room with my Mom. watching The Chicago Cubs play The Pittsburgh Pirates on WGN-TV. I remember that The Cubs WON that game, GO CUBS! I also remember that they broke into that game to announce the terrible news. I'll never forget hearing the words "Ladies & Gentlemen, we have just received word that Elvis Presley has died in Memphis, he was 42".

I was stunned, my Mom was in tears. It was SURREAL. What would The King to pass away at such a young age.

Of course, as days, weeks, and months passed, we found out WHY Elvis was gone, but it still didn't make it any better. A Musical Icon was no longer with us, and a void was left that for many, hasn't been filled.

August 16, 1977. It seems like so long ago, but I still remember it like yesterday.

And 40 years later, Elvis is STILL THE KING!
