Tuscaloosa Health Clinic Offers Unique Halloween Event
Halloween was in full swing in West Alabama with plenty of events for the community to attend.
Growing up as a kid, I could remember going trick or treating with my parents and uncles in my neighborhood.
I've always wanted to grow up and be on the other side of the door giving out candy to the kids when I grew older. The sad reality is that times have changed.
Nowadays, it just feels safer to go to an organized, trunk-or-treat event put on by community organizations.
This year, Whatley Health Services offered members of the community a chance to not only get some free candy for their kids, but also free testing during a unique event.
The event was called Prick and Treat.

There was free Hep C testing and free HIV testing for adults as well as a trunk or treat in the parking lot with food trucks, music, games, and all.
"We just wanted to give back to the community by doing a trunk or treat for the kids while also providing free HIV and Hep C testing to those individuals that wanted to get tested," said Quinisha Sanders, Ryan White Prevention-Retention Coordinator at Whatley Health Services.
In just two hours, the Whatley staff were able to test close to 60 individuals. Each individual who received free testing got a free meal from their choice of food trucks in attendance.
Families came from all over West Alabama to not only get tested but enjoy a night out with their kids during this cool new event in Tuscaloosa
