Toby Keith and Lee Greenwood to Perform at Donald Trump’s Inauguration Concert
Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith will headline President-elect Donald Trump's pre-inauguration concert. The country singers are among a star-studded lineup set to perform at the Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration on Jan. 19 at the Lincoln Memorial.
Best known for his signature song "God Bless the USA," Greenwood has already performed in front of five sitting presidents (Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush). His appearance at the Make American Great Again! Welcome Celebration will be the singer's fourth time performing at a presidential inauguration event.
“I’m honored to be part of history again and sing for President-elect Donald Trump," says Greenwood in a press release. "This is a time to overcome challenges in our country and band together. My wife Kim and I are looking forward to the inauguration ceremonies."
Keith, too, has many well-known songs with a strong sense of national pride at their core. He is a dedicated supporter of the U.S. military, most notably in songs such as "American Soldier," and his outspoken patriotic anthem "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)" was written in response to the terrorists attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Keith and Greenwood will be joined by artists of many other genres at the Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration, including rock band 3 Doors Down; additionally Tim Rushlow, formerly of Little Texas, Lonestar's Richie McDonald and Restless Heart's Larry Stewart will perform. President-elect Trump will also make remarks at the event, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
Along with the Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration, Washington, DC, will be overflowing with events surrounding the 2017 presidential inauguration on Jan. 20. Country duo Big & Rich will perform at a gala on the evening of Jan. 19, and Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts will be part of the Veterans Inaugural Ball on Jan. 20. Additionally, the Gatlin Brothers will perform at the Black Tie & Boots 2017 Inaugural Ball, also on Jan. 19, while Darryl Worley will appear at the Great American Inaugural Ball on Jan. 20.
