Teen Charged with Attempted Murder After Weekend Shooting at McDonalds

A 17-year-old was charged with attempted murder Monday after he turned himself in to police in connection with a shooting at the McDonalds restaurant on Highway 69 South Saturday night.

Captain Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said an 18-year-old woman was shot in the leg around 9:30 Saturday night outside the fast food chain.

Hart said police believe an argument broke out inside the McDonalds and the parties involved were made to leave the building. Shortly after, someone started shooting at a group of people standing outside the establishment.

Bullets struck the McDonalds building, a vehicle, and one shot hit the victim in her leg.

Jaylen Frechon Sullivan, 17, was identified as a suspect after reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses. He turned himself in to police Monday afternoon, and was charged with attempted murder. He was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where his bond was set at $60,000.

Hart added that the victim who was injured is recovering and has already been released from the hospital.
