Baseball coach Brad Bohannon noted in his opening statements during media availability on Thursday that the Crimson Tide was a little newer on the mound this season. However, the two catching transfers Alabama brought in this season should help this new staff grow and create a powerful battery for the Tide.
One challenge the baseball program has constantly faced are the NCAA's limitation of scholarships. The NCAA allows programs up to 11.7 athletic scholarships for a roster of close to 40 athletes, placing a financial burden on most players and their families.
The Alabama Crimson Tide (16-12) lost its midweek contest to the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks (11-14) 5-3. Alabama has now lost nine of its last 10 outings after defeating then No. 1 Arkansas on the road.
The Tide will once again be without ace pitcher Connor Prielipp as the team takes on Tennessee in a home series this weekend. Bama baseball is currently 1-5 in SEC play and has lost six games straight. Prielipp pitched the opening game on February 19th with a 0.00 ERA in 5 innings and has not played a single game since.
