Lovers of robots, cops, robot cops, and examinations of corporate America, we’ve got some good news for you: Thirty years(!) after its release in theaters, Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi classic RoboCop is returning to the silver screen for its 30th anniversary.

Today (Monday) marks three decades since RoboCop entered into our lives, and the Alamo Drafthouse has been cooking up something really special. RoboCop is back in theaters for one night only on September 10, live-streamed across the country to participating theaters all the way from the Dallas City Hall, a.k.a. OCP Headquarters, where RoboCop and the bad bot ED-209 had their final standoff. And that’s not all: The whole thing is basically a giant RoboCop party, with food, drinks, photo ops, and the one and only robot cop himself, Peter Weller on-site for a Q&A!

RoboCop is the story of a police officer who dies in the line of duty and is converted into a half-man, half-machine being whose primary directives are to “serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law.” The movie is a biting commentary on how corporations run our society, and a fascinating examination of law enforcement and what it is that makes us human.
