Cedric Lamar Collins, 19, pleaded guilty in federal court earlier this morning for the attempted robbery of the Alabama Credit Union, as well as taking hostages during the thwarted attempt.
Back in January of this year, Collins walked into the University Location of The Alabama Credit Union, just before business hours, seeking to rob it. Minutes after Collins entered the building, SWAT teams were quickly dispatched to the scene. During the ordeal, Collins took several credit union employees hostage. Once officers attempted to enter the building, he threatened to start shooting.
Fortunately, Law Enforcement Officials subsequently entered the building, and we're able to safely apprehend Collins without any of the hostages suffering any harm.
Sentencing for Collins will take place at a later date.
