You might remember this place took home the award for best dish at last year's event and they are trying to defend that crown. Judging by the sample we got to enjoy, Central Mesa has a really good chance to go back-to-back.

Chef Sara Newman has gone off-menu once again to create a pork belly slide topped with a habanero peach puree and slaw. A balanced combination of sweet and spicy, we'd try to push her to add this item to their menu everyday. With your feedback on Saturday, maybe they'll do just that. Either way, you're going to want to make it by their table at the Tuscaloosa River Market this weekend.

Central Mesa will be on of close to 20 different local restaurants that will be on hand at Bacon Brew & Que this Saturday. General admission tickets are still available.
