Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter told the Thread the incident, which occurred in the 11600 block of Arbor Oaks Road in Northport, was reported by the homeowner on Tuesday.

Carpenter said the homeowner received an alert that showed activity and determined the package was taken sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. Carpenter said the person in the video appears to be a woman.

The post states anyone with information on the identity of the person should contact Investigator Parker at 205-469-1318.

Carpenter said with the rise in incidents of packages being taken in the area, residents should take proper steps to ensure they do not become victims.

"When it comes to package protection, it is important to make sure you have someone present at the home at the time of deliveries and set alerts to sign for packages and receive notification of package arrivals," Carpenter said. "It also helps to have a doorbell or some sort of video camera installed so that we can have evidence if something like this does happen."
