All five of Northport's city council seats and the mayor's office are up for election, and as the deadline draws near, several candidates have just filed paperwork, setting up contested races in all but one district as of Monday afternoon.

The city maintains an online list of those who have qualified, and only District 5 remains uncontested at this time. The seat was last won by former council President Jeff Hogg, who resigned in controversy last year. Anwar Aiken, the man the city council appointed to replace Hogg, has yet to qualify to seek the seat in August.
