Northport Councilman Shares Sneak Peak of Water Park Plans
The President of the Northport City Council shared renderings Tuesday offering a sneak peak at the water park he hopes to see open by next summer.
The in-development water park has long been a priority for council president Jeff Hogg, who has led the effort to build it and two other amenities, an outdoor adventure park and a huge expansion of Kentuck Park into a first-class sports facility.
On Tuesday, Hogg took to social media to share renderings of what the park is meant to look like upon completion and an overheard map boasting a long list of amenities.
Included on the map are a wave pool and lazy river, multiple water slides, a kids zone and splash pad, cabanas, dining and retail options and more.
Hogg also noted in the post "this is all still very preliminary and configurations could change.
The city has already purchased the nearly 12 acres of land the park will be built upon on U.S. Highway 82 past Big Lots and the Tractor Supply Co., behind and beyond the Taco Casa and Zaxbys restaurants there.
Hogg has long said he wants the park to be open for business by May 2023, even if that timeline seems more ambitious by the day.
