This week, unfortunate news arose for a staple in the Tuscaloosa community. It's been recently announced that the famous Tuscaloosa Tumbling Tides gym is in danger of closing its doors.

Tumbling Tides owner Lu Ann Nix detailed how she got her start in owning the business.

"The current owner at the time had owned the business for sixteen years. My sister said, with tears streaming down her face, that I just had to buy the gym and keep it going," Nix said.

"We did in fact buy the gym but we had to relocate because the facility had been sold."

Fast forward more than thirty years and it seems like history is repeating itself. The current building that houses Tuscaloosa Tumbling Tides is being sold and it's threatening the closure of the business.

Lu Ann Nix says that they are exploring options for a location due to not having the funds to buy the building.

"We have over 600 students who need a safe place to learn and grow! Multiple people, including some of our amazing staff, have come to me with the idea of starting a Go Fund Me."

Currently, the Go Fund Me fundraiser has a goal of $325,000 and after six days, close to $6,000 has been raised.

On the Go Fund Me page, a message was recently posted thanking community members for their support.

"We are so overwhelmed with gratitude for all of the support! We are searching for a place to relocate to so Tumbling Tides will be able to continue! Thank you again for your help!"
