The Tuscaloosa Branch of the NAACP will host the 2024 Annual Juneteenth Parade on Saturday, June 15.

“The parade showcases African Americans' rich cultural heritage through music, dance, art, and other forms of expression,” said Lisa Young, President of the Tuscaloosa Branch of the NAACP. “It's a vibrant display of community pride and cultural identity.”

Organizations and groups from Tuscaloosa and neighboring counties will be showcased through the parade. The route will begin at Westlawn Middle School and conclude at Shelton State's C.A. Fredd Campus.

2024 Juneteenth Parade Grand Marshals

The 2024 Juneteenth Parade Grand Marshals will be Stillman College President Dr. Yolanda Page, Congresswoman Terri Sewell, and Alabama State Rep. Curtis Travis.

“The parade fosters a sense of community and solidarity. It brings people together to celebrate shared history and values, strengthening community bonds and promoting inclusiveness,” said Young.

Also, parade attendees can catch all the action along Martin Luther King Blvd.

Young said “The parade is a time for reflection on the past and a recommitment to the ongoing struggle for civil rights and social justice. It reminds participants and spectators alike of the importance of continuing the work to achieve true freedom and equality for all.”


Starts at 9 a.m.

The line-up is at Westlawn Middle School, 1715 Martin Luther King Blvd.

The parade route runs along Martin Luther King Blvd.

Ends at Shelton State – C.A. Fredd Campus 3401 Martin Luther King Junior Blvd.
