
Job Fair at Tuscaloosa Main Post Office Seeking USPS Rural Carriers
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is seeking committed, motivated individuals to join its mission of serving the local community. The USPS is “focused on building a more stable and empowered workforce. A walk-in USPS Rural Carriers job fair will be held today, Thursday, November 6, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa Main Post Office, located at 1313 22nd Ave. Tuscaloosa, AL 35401. Postal Service representatives will be available to provide information and answer questions about benefits, qualifications, and the application process.
Applicant Requirements
According to the press release, “an applicant must have a valid state driver's license and demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record. Carriers may be required to load and unload trays and containers of mail and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds. A personal vehicle may be required.” In addition, “Applicants must be 18 years of age and be able to pass a criminal background investigation. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.”
Overview of a Rural Carrier Associate (RCA)
- At $20.85 per hour, an RCA will have a continuous, part-time job.
- This on-call position could be ideal if one is retired, self-employed, an at-home parent, an educator, night student, or if employed on an evening shift schedule.
- An RCA serves families and businesses in rural and suburban areas.
- This employee is responsible for the delivery and collection of mail, working part-time when regular carriers have scheduled days off or vacation days.
- An RCA also sells stamps, supplies, and money orders.
