Things You Never Do In Your Vehicle During Summer In Alabama

The heat is HERE! The HOT months are now facing us for several months.
I've never even heard the term "heat dome" until this week.
The south and our beloved Alabama are known for their heat and humidity, which can be tough on cars, trucks, and SUVs.
A big thank you for ALL of these tips goes out to our friends at Action Automotive on Crescent Ridge Rd. in Tuscaloosa
In fact, you must check out the BONUS video down below because it's worth every second.
If you want to keep your vehicle running smoothly and avoid tons of repairs, there are some things you should never do to your car in 'Bama and the South.
Here are some of the MOST important.
- Neglecting the regular maintenance schedule-That good 'ol regular maintenance is essential for any car, but it's especially important in West Alabama, where the heat and humidity can take a big toll on your vehicle. Missing or just skipping oil changes, tire rotations, and other regular maintenance tasks can lead to bigger problems down the road, including engine damage and reduced fuel efficiency.
2. Leaving your car parked in the sun -Parking your car in the sunlight during the heat of the day can cause a number of problems, including damage to your interior and exterior, and it can mess with your battery life. If you can, park in the shade or buy one of those goofy car covers to protect your vehicle from the sun's harmful rays. We used to make fun of people who used them, and now I'm becoming one of them.
3. Using the wrong type of oil -The wrong type of oil can lead to serious engine problems and damage. Don't do it! In Alabama, it's important to use oil that can handle the high temperatures and humidity. Check your manual or talk with a good, solid, local mechanic to determine the best type of oil for your car.
4. Using low-quality gasoline -Does this really matter? It really does, according to every car guy or gal I have ever talked to about this stuff.
Using low-quality gasoline can also cause problems in Alabama. Gas with a low octane rating can lead to engine noises or "knocking," as they say, and very bad fuel efficiency.
At least that is what the car experts tell me. It's important to use gasoline with a high enough octane rating to meet your vehicle's needs.
OK, before we get to the last one, you must check out this video.
It's on things you never LEAVE in your automobile when it's hot. Even though it reminds me of a bad karate movie, it has great info.

5. Ignoring warning signs: I know, some of us have had engine lights on for a couple of years. I may be guilty, but that doesn't mean that it is a good idea.
If you notice warning signs that something is wrong with your car, such as strange noises, vibrations, or dashboard warning lights, it's important to address them right away. Ignoring these signs can lead to bigger problems and more expensive repairs down the road.
We all know that the EXTREMELY hot summer is here, and it's only going to get hotter and more humid over the next couple of months.
To keep your vehicle running well during the West Alabama summer, it's important to take care of regular maintenance, park in the shade, use the right type of oil and gasoline, and address the warning signs as soon as they arise.
