Mayor Walt Maddox Open To Possibility Of Data Center Locating In Tuscaloosa

We learned that the mayor plays guitar, but he said he hasn’t played since the devastating tornado in Tuscaloosa. We challenged him to play again, maybe on his next morning show appearance.

Maddox said would be open minded to looking into the possibility of an AI Data Center locating in Tuscaloosa.  He said he would want to look at all the  ramifications of a Tuscaloosa location. Environmentalists have opposed data centers nationwide. Tommy Tuberville, candidate for governor, says the data centers would be a financial  boom for Alabama.

The mayor reminded us to go to www.usatoday.com daily and vote for Tuscaloosa as the best college sports town.

The conversation with the mayor was fast paced. We discussed his getting to know Nick and Miss Terry Saban better through their work on the Saban Center. Maddox said the Sabans were both extremely detail oriented, with Miss Terry matching  Coach Saban’s focus.

Mayor Maddox said if he was granted a political do-over it would be his past run for governor.

The mayor is preparing to present his budget to the city. He said there would no surprises.
