Alabama Releases Animal Abuser Who Let Dog Starve To Death

A former Alabama student who simply left her dog to die in agony is free today.
This type of cruelty to animals is a felony in Alabama.
Ryanne Gilbert is 27 years old, and according to WVTM-TV, she recently issued a guilty plea on charges of first-degree aggravated animal cruelty.
Gilbert was sentenced to 5 years in prison with 2 years of supervised probation.
Of course, if Gilbert violates her probation for any reason, she could be sent back to prison.
Let me make it clear: I FIRMLY BELIEVE IN FORGIVENESS.
Second and third chances are something I support wholeheartedly. Animal abuse is in a different class. At least that's how I feel.
I could be wrong. It just seems to me that many, many stories of serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and the Boston Strangler all had a history of cruelty to animals.
There's no way that is a coincidence.
Cruelty to animals is one of the traits from the "MacDonald Triad", a framework that was once thought capable of identifying serial killers and violent offenders.
No, I don't believe that every person who commits animal abuse is going to become the next Zodiac killer or Dahmer, for the most part.
However, it can be a good indication of the kind of person you will become. Gilbert was charged after some folks in her apartment complex discovered a dog that was decomposing in her locked bedroom.
Investigators concluded that the Labrador had been deprived of food and water for a long period of time.
I don't even like to think about how that innocent dog was in pain for a long period of time.
To actually die of starvation is hideous.
What do you think about her release from jail? Comment below.
I truly hope Ryanne has learned her lesson and that we never hear her name attached to a crime ever again.
