TERRANCE GREEN POISED TO MAKE IMMEDIATE IMPACT ON ALABAMA’S DEFENSIVE LINE

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- One of Alabama’s biggest acquisitions in the offseason was Oregon transfer defensive lineman Terrance Green, who will look to make an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa. 

Green was the No. 60-ranked player in the 2026 transfer portal class and the No. 10 defensive lineman according to 247Sports. Green brings a 6-foot-5 frame, weighing in at 313 pounds, and put on 20 pounds of muscle in the offseason.

“Obviously, when you see Terrence's frame, and you saw what he did with his previous institution,”  Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said. “I mean, there were some- you saw a piece to the puzzle of, like, okay, if this guy continues to develop in the right way, he's gonna turn into a very special player. And I was really impressed by the strides he made. In the off-season, he put on 20 pounds of muscle by the time we got through the middle of summer.”

In Green's three seasons with the Ducks, he played in 25 games, accumulating 22 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, and two pass breakups. According to Pro Football Focus, his defensive grade in 2025 was 61.5%, his run defense grade was 63.2%, and his tackle grade was 68.9%. 

Green brings a physical presence to the Crimson Tide’s defense and looks to make up for some of the pass rush production they lost to the 2026 transfer portal. Between Keon Keeley, James Smith, Kelby Collins, and Qua Russaw all playing elsewhere this year, that is 8.5 sacks, Wommack and company will have to make up for this year. 

Green's transition to the Crimson Tide’s defensive scheme has gone smoothly, making him one of the most impactful and seamless plug-and-play additions of the entire offseason portal cycle.

“He was able to grasp our concepts; what Dan [Lanning] does at Oregon and what we do, there's a lot of similarities there,” Wommack said. “And so he was able to grasp some things. There were some differences, of course, as well. But he's done a really nice job, from a schematic standpoint, of buying in.”

With Green making an effortless transition to Wommack's scheme in the offseason, he will likely be penciled in as the starting nose tackle for Saturday's season opener against East Carolina University. 

“Fundamentally, he has taken his game to another level, I think, from where I saw him to where he is now,” Wommack said of Green. “But he has got to go do those things on game day. So certainly excited about what he brings to the table for us in terms of a big physical, athletic presence that we all know we needed to improve in that area.”
