Former Alabama QB Ty Simpson Confident his Time with the Tide Prepared him for the NFL
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Ty Simpson completed 50 of his 55 passes during the Crimson Tide's Pro Day on Wednesday, shining in front of NFL scouts and representatives from all 32 franchises.

Simpson met briefly with the New York Jets Director of College Scouting, Jason Mandolesi, on the field during Wednesday's Pro Day and has set up a private workout with the franchise on Friday. After his strong Pro Day performance, Simpson met with the media, where he showcased his confidence in his abilities to make big-time throws.
"You let it rip. That was something when you look at my tape, I'd make the big-time throws," Simpson said of the tough throws he made on Wednesday. "I'd make the easy throws. But this is something that is fun. Being able to show off my arm and show off my feet was something I wanted to do. That was something I emphasized to David [Morris] - let's go show out and have the best pro day ever. I felt like I did."
Former Alabama players have often joked that the Crimson Tide's practices are tougher than the NFL, with Ryan Anderson saying it in 2017 during his rookie season with Washington, and Will Anderson Jr. saying it ahead of his rookie year in 2023 with the Texans. It's a testament to the Alabama program that was built under Nick Saban and continues under Kalen DeBoer.
While Simpson didn't explicitly say Alabama was tougher than the NFL, as he has yet to take a practice snap in the league, he felt confident that his time with the Crimson Tide prepared him for whatever the NFL may throw at him during his career.
"I feel like that's one of the reasons why I came out. Alabama gets you the most pro-ready of any other program," Simpson said. "Whether it's the weight room, going against the different type of players on scout team - regular, or the NFL type system. From Coach Saban to Coach DeBoer, nothing has changed when it comes to the standard and the type of players that come in here and what you're asked to be a part of. I came to my decision, and I felt like I was ready, and I know that I'm ready. Wherever I go, whether I have to sit or play, just know that I'm gonna give it my all and give glory to God and be who I am."
Simpson sat for three seasons behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe before getting his chance as the Tide's starting quarterback during the 025 season, where he led Alabama to an 11-4 record with an SEC championship appearance and a College Football Playoff victory. During his lone season as Alabama's starter, Simpson completed 64.5% of his passes for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns to five interceptions. Simpson also added 93 yards and two scores on the ground last season.
The NFL draft is scheduled for April 23-25, and while Simpson has been invited to attend, he has not yet decided if he will.
