Ryan Williams Draws High Praise From Alabama Vet
Alabama took to the lectern on Wednesday, and the Crimson Tide's leader in the secondary, Malachi Moore, spoke to the media for several minutes ahead to the start of the SEC season.
Moore was asked about Williams, who reclassified to 2024 from the 2025 recruiting class. Williams was a five-star prospect from Saraland, Alabama, and has a high chance to compete for playing time early in his Alabama career.
Ryan is very mature for his age, and a lot of what he's done in practice has been shocking to see from someone his age, do it at a high level," Moore said at SEC Media Days. "He has the ability but he also has the brain to go with his ability. He's as smart and knowledgeable as a young freshman could be, and even (being) a year behind age-wise. He's definitely something I've never seen when it comes to Alabama and skipping a grade, going to college, and performing at the next level."
As a junior at Saraland, Williams accounted for 19 touchdowns for the Spartans, including four in the state championship against Clay-Chalkville in the state championship game.
Don't expect him to contribute those numbers as a freshman, he's a year younger than the rest of the freshmen. But Williams could play early for the Crimson Tide and has an opportunity to flash in his first season.
