Deontae Lawson Updates Timeline as He Recovers from Injury
The Tide's 24-3 loss to Oklahoma stung, but injury was added to insult when Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson was lost for the final two games of the year to a lower-body injury. Lawson's own plans for the NFL draft had to be delayed a year following the injury.

Lawson looks healthy, but has dropped 12 pounds since the end of the season. He was one of three players to attend SEC Media Days with Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, where he was asked about his health heading into fall camp.
"Body's feeling pretty good, still taking it one day at a time," Lawson told us. "Doing everything I can to be ready to go, and we'll see what happens."
Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack had previously mentioned in an interview with WNSP in Mobile that his timeline was to be ready for Fall Camp and the first game of the regular season, which is 45 days away on August 30. Is that still the accurate timeline?
"Right now, I feel good, but obviously, it'll be different when you put the pads on, and that'll be a whole other thing to get used to, but that's about the timeline. I'll be ready to go for camp, but obviously be monitored, and just getting ready for August 30."
Lawson returns for his fifth and final year of eligibility at Alabama as the only returning captain from the 2024 team.
