Alabama Vets Heading to Dallas
SEC Media Days are right around the corner, with the entirety of the Southeastern Conference set to converge on Dallas, Texas for four days as the SEC welcomes Texas and Oklahoma to the conference by hosting media days in their backyard.
As is the tradition with the SEC Media Days, three players accompany a head coach to Media Days. Typically, the three include a quarterback, a veteran defender, and another leader on the team. In the past, Alabama has brought players such as Bryce Young, Calvin Ridley, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and many more Crimson Tide legends.
This season is no different. According to the University of Alabama, quarterback Jalen Milroe, offensive lineman Tyler Booker, and defensive back Malachi Moore will join new Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer in Dallas.
Milroe is the heartbeat of Alabama's offense and is the highest returning Heisman candidate from last season - finishing sixth for the award. He threw for 2,834 yards and 23 touchdowns last season while adding 531 and 12 touchdowns on the ground. Milroe is expected to be one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in college football in 2024. Milroe was named a permanent captain for the 2023 team.
Booker is Alabama's most veteran offensive lineman, with 12 game appearances in 2022 and 12 starts in 2023 as a staple of Alabama's offensive line. He's expected to be a veteran who helps anchor the Crimson Tide's offensive line in 2024.
Moore is the lone returning starter in Alabama's secondary and one of four players on the roster from Alabama's last national championship win. Last season, Moore totaled 52 tackles (5 for loss), one pick, and four pass breakups as the commander in the Crimson Tide's secondary at star. He's learning to play a new position in 2024 but is still expected to be a strong contributor in the secondary. He was voted as a permanent team captain in 2023.
