Alabama Relief Pitcher Enters Portal
Alabama Crimson Tide closer Alton Davis II has entered the transfer portal, per Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball.
Davis II has two years of eligibility remaining.
The southpaw broke out onto the scene during league play of his freshman campaign, posting a 2.76 ERA against SEC foes, quickly falling into the closer role for the Crimson Tide.
Davis II's elite freshman season earned him second-team freshman All-American honors and a spot on the freshman All-SEC squad.
The lefty earned multiple preseason honors, including a spot on the 2024 Stopper of the Year Watch List, which annually honors the nation's top reliever.
Davis II would have an up-and-down 2024 under a new coaching staff, recording a 5.61 ERA over 33.2 IP while tacking on 38 strikeouts compared to 17 walks.
