Driving in Alabama is interesting. It’s always some drama on the interstate, McFarland, or Skyland. Between the insane drivers, cows on the roads, and bumper-to-bumper traffic jams. One could go nuts.

However, there is one thing that I do enjoy on the roads of the Yellowhammer State. Lately, I’ve been seeing many men driving shirtless in Alabama. Growing up in Florida, going shirtless was somewhat common.

But be clear, I’m all for eye candy.

Now, I am the same person that went on and on about driving barefoot.

Go figure.

But, driving shirtless, I’m ok with it.

But, it does bring to attention the big question, is driving shirtless in Alabama illegal?

According to Direct Auto Insurance, “technically, there are no laws that specifically prohibit topless driving (for any gender). However, in some states, driving without a shirt on may qualify as obscene or indecent exposure, so it’s a good idea to verify the laws in your area before you strip down and buckle up.”

Is it Illegal? So, that answer is yes and no.

When it comes to what is illegal, “these are laws that can change in the application as there’s some interpretation required in what is considered decent and indecent in society at the time of conviction,” said Cars Guide. “So as attitudes towards female toplessness change, the application of this law could vary.”
