If You Love Gummi Worms, Today Is Your Day

I wanted to share something that is not coronavirus related and could bring a little bit of a break from everything.  Today, Wednesday, July 15, 2020, is Gummi Worm Day!  I mean, who doesn’t love gummi worms?  They go with everything, not too sweet – not too sour, and super cute.  According to Leaf TV, “German candy maker Hans Reigel came up with the gummy candy concept in 1922. The candy was in bear form and wasn't shipped to America until around 1981. It was then that American candy manufacturer Trolli developed the gummy worm.”  My mother used to make dirt cake cups with gummi worms.  I don’t know why, but kids get ready excited over this.  Here is a great how-to video from Southern Mom and includes the recipe.

Did you know you can even get “adult” gummi candies like Pina Colada Gummy Bears, Sanded Tequila Gummy Worms, and even a Giant Gummy Party Python!  Click here to check out all different kinds of gummi type candies at the online store Its Sugar.  I would have to say my favorite gummi worm is the Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers in watermelon (can you tell I’m on a watermelon kick this summer).  You can find those gummi worms and more at the Candy Warehouse.  They have other flavors like cherry, topical, and original, and even sugar-free.  Leaf TV, also mentioned that “the intent was to give children something fun to eat, while mildly shocking parents. This shock has since worn off. Gummy worms are one of the most popular gummy characters around.”
