Gary Allan is ready to release new music, much to his fans' delight. A new single called "Mess Me Up" is headed to country radio in May.

"The rumors are true! 'Mess Me Up' is my new single. It'll be available for download on May 19 and it'll be at radio on May 30," Allan says in a short video clip, posted to his official Facebook page.

The video closes with a snippet of the song showcasing Allan's familiar vocals. "Mess me up / Make me drink too much wine and get out my guitar at 2 in the morning," he sings, adding this caption: "You asked for it and we listened…#MessMeUp."

According to Allan's team, "Mess Me Up" is one he's been performing live for several years. When one fan asked if a new album is on the way, his team responded with a vague, yet hopeful answer: "We promise we will let you know as soon as we have details on the full album!"

During an interview with Taste of Country Nights last year, Allan revealed the hardest thing about recording a collection of music.

“I just cut 20 songs. I have to decide which 10 is going to be the album … That’s the hardest thing I have to do,” he says of narrowing down the songs to fit one album. “I usually write it all down on pieces of paper that are all torn and I play with them, scoot them to the out pile, take pictures and think about it for a while."
