"Everything stayed in the park. We're not giving freebies away and we're playing good defense," said Alabama coach Patrick Murphy.

"If you can get pitching and defense to stay constant, you're going to have a shot - every game, no matter who you're playing."

Game one for the Tide ended in a strange run-rule walk-off walk after six innings, scoring Dowling off of a bases-loaded BB.

Senior transfer catcher Ally Shipman went 2-for-3 at her first home appearance for Alabama, including a two-RBI home run to center field in the fourth to give Bama a 7-1 lead.

Sophomore RHP Jaala Torrence drew her second start and win of the season, only needing six frames and giving up two earned runs. Torrence allowed six hits and two walks but recorded 10 strikeouts in the 10-2 run-rule victory.

Game two ended as a 1-0 nail-bitter after both squads struggled at the plate.

Senior and USFA Pitcher of the Year Montana Fouts blanked the Hokies, drawing 11 strikeouts, allowing only 3 hits and no runs for her second win of the 2022 season. This is Fouts' 30th appearance with the program fetching double-digit strikeouts.

The Crimson Tide's only run scored in the game came from an Abby Doerr single - scoring Bailey Dowling - in the bottom of the second

Alabama moves to 6-0 on the year and will see No. 8 Virginia Tech on Saturday morning for a rematch before taking on Middle Tennessee in an evening game.
