Alabama Sweeps AP SEC Season Awards, Lands 12 on All-SEC Teams
If the records and statistics weren't indication enough, the postseason awards are making it crystal clear that Alabama was on a completely different level in the Southeastern Conference this year.
The latest All-SEC team was released by the Associated Press on Thursday, and the Crimson Tide took down every, single season award. This is how the clean sweep looked on paper:
Offensive Player of the Year - Jalen Hurts
Defensive Player of the Year - Jonathan Allen
Newcomer of the Year - Jalen Hurts
Coach of the Year - Nick Saban
The undefeated Crimson Tide enters the College Football Playoff with a 13-0 record and a No. 1 ranking. No other team in the SEC finished with fewer than four losses.
Alabama also led the entire conference in points scored and points allowed through the regular season and punctuated a dominant 2016 with a 54-16 SEC Championship victory. That's why it's no surprise that the Crimson Tide also led the conference with a total of 12 players on the AP All-SEC teams as well.
