Alabama Signee JD Davison Named Mr. Basketball
Senior guard and current Alabama signee, JD Davison was recently named Mr. Basketball by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. Davison is the fifth player to win Mr. Basketball in back-to-back years. The high-flying guard out of Letohachee, Alabama is considered the No. 1 player in the state and the No. 9 player in the nation.
The McDonald's All American is the third consecutive back-to-back winner, following Alabama's John Petty III and LSU's Trendon Watford.
Davison signed with the Crimson Tide in November and is the crown-jewel in Nate Oat's class of 2021 that currently is ranked No. 10 overall.
Over the course of 112 games in his high school career, Davison averaged 24.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. During his senior season the electric guard averaged a whopping 32.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
Davison won the state championship for Calhoun High School as a junior, hitting the game-winning 3-point shot as time expired. As a senior he was able to carry Calhoun deep into the playoffs before ultimately being eliminated in the semifinals.
He is expected to join Jahvon Quinerly in the Crimson Tide backcourt next season, giving Alabama two 5-star, Mcdonald's All Americans to take care of the ball-handling next season.
