“Loved our team’s ability tonight to go out and execute the game plan,” said Alabama head coach Kristy Curry. “We just weathered their runs and stuck together.”

After going down 8-3 to start the game, Alabama went on a 15-2 run sparked by a hot-shooting Brittany Davis, taking an 18-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. Davis scored the first eleven points of the game for the Tide, nailing two three-pointers early.

In the second quarter, the Georgia defense started to settle in, cutting the Alabama lead to three. Halfway through the quarter, the Tide offense started to pick up the pace, ending the quarter outscoring the Dawgs, 19-5. The Tide took a 37-22 lead into the break.

Alabama came out firing to start the second half stretching the lead out to twenty, but Georgia responded with a 7-0 run, cutting the Tide lead to, 46-33, with 5:47 left in the third quarter. The Dawgs continued to scratch away at the lead, cutting the deficit to single digits, 54-45, heading into the final frame.

After a quiet third quarter, Davis started to heat up once again, scoring ten to put the Tide up 68-51 with 4:33 left in the fourth quarter. Georgia amped up the pressure, cutting the Tide lead to 69-58 with 2:46 left, but a JaMya Mingo-Young layup would seemingly ice the game.

The Tide hit three free-throws in the final minute securing the 74-62 victory and snapping a five-game losing streak to the Dawgs.

Three Alabama players scored in double figures including Brittany Davis (26), Megan Abrams (24), and Allie Craig Cruce (10).

Up next, Alabama faces the No. 3 seed, 18th-ranked Tennessee on Friday. The Tide split the regular season series with the Lady Vols, with each team winning at home.

Tipoff in Bridgestone Arena is set for 8:30 p.m. CT.
