They’re creepy and they’re kooky *snap snap*… and hopefully coming to Netflix soon!

Deadline revealed late last month that Tim Burton is hoping to develop a new “Addams Family” series. Burton is famous for using his gothic aesthetic and film style to create movies that are both lighthearted and eerily entertaining, making him a perfect candidate for “The Addams Family” series. “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Beetlejuice” and “Edward Scissorhands” are just some of his more well-known works.

The new series is rumored to be told in present-day from Wednesday Addams’ perspective.

According to Deadline’s article, Netflix is the main contender for the show’s production. Alfred Gough and Miles Miller are said to be the show’s head writers, showrunners and executive producers. Both Gough and Miller are known for developing and producing “Smallville,” a series based on DC Comics’ Superman.

The idea for “The Addams Family” was originally developed by cartoonist Charles Addams in 1938. Addams hopes to sensationalize an offbeat take on traditional American values with his infamous cartoon series.

Since then, the spooky take on a classic, all-American family unit has been adapted in an array of artistic forms and fashions, some of which include a 1964 television series and a 1993 blockbuster film starring Anjelica Huston, Christina Ricci, Raul Julia and Christopher Lloyd.

Fans of the new franchise have even cast their unofficial votes for Gomez and Morticia Addams. Some hopeful choices include Johnny Depp, Rami Malek, Oscar Isaac, Christina Ricci and Eva Green.

Whether a blockbuster film, hit TV series or a cartoon series from “The New Yorker,” this famous family has found itself a cult-like following in every nearly every generation since its development in the early twentieth century. If Burton’s new series gets picked up for production, “The Addams Family” could yet again be immortalized by a new set of ghostly fans.
