Two Tuscaloosa residents have been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of a North Carolina man.

54-year-old Eugene McDonald and 46-year-old Phoebe Morgan were taken into custody on Friday by the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit and are currently being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail and facing charges in the death of 56-year-old Garry Lee Spitzer, a resident of Pink Hill, NC.

The arrest comes just one week after Morgan's 24-year-old daughter, Alabama resident Katey Millican was arrested in North Carolina and charged with felony to commit murder after her ex-boyfriend Spitzer was found dead.

Investigators say that Millican and Spitzer were involved in a custody battle over their daughter. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of Spitzer's death.
