The Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority and the Arts Council of Tuscaloosa are collaborating for the first time to host storyteller and humorist Tim Lowry, the Sweet Tea Commentator, next month at the Bama Theatre.

Becky Booker, a spokeswoman for PARA, said the event will be hosted at the Bama Theatre on Greensboro Avenue in Tuscaloosa on March 24th at 2 p.m.

This event will be a first-time collaboration between the PARA4life senior programming and the Arts Council.

“PARA and the Arts Council staff work closely together. The more we talked, the more eager we were about bringing an artist of Lowry’s unique talent to Tuscaloosa," Carole Taylor, the PARA4life coordinator said in a press release. "His performance at a venue the reputation and size of the BamaTheatre will allow exposure to many different audiences.”

Lowry, a national storytelling artist from South Carolina, has said "a well-told story is the pure cane sugar in the Sweet Tea of Life," and presents historic facts, regional folk tales and personal narratives that he calls "unmistakably southern."

"We are thrilled to present Tim Lowry at the BAMA Theatre,” said Sandy Wolfe, Arts Council Director. “This program is a perfect partnership between the Arts Council and PARA4life. It is sure to be a great show!”

Tickets are available now for $11 each at tcpara.org/sweettea or at any PARA Activity Center. They will also be sold on site at the Bama Theatre box office immediately prior to the event, from noon until 2 p.m. on March 24.
