A day after Alabama's win over Florida State to start the year, the team has reportedly lost two key defenders for the season.

Matt Zenitz of AL.com reported Sunday that starting linebacker Christian Miller and key reserve Terrell Lewis will both miss the entire year due to injuries suffered on Saturday night. Miller, a redshirt junior who had entered the year with high expectations after a strong fall camp, tore his bicep. Lewis, who recorded five tackles against the Seminoles, tore a ligament in his elbow.

The losses are a big blow to the Alabama defense. Both players were in line for major contributions in 2017. Add in the other injuries to Rashaan Evans and Anfernee Jennings, the Crimson Tide suddenly has questions at linebacker. It might lead to a few young players - possibly even true freshmen - getting much more time on the field.

Nick Saban is scheduled for his weekly media appearance on Monday and will likely update all of the injuries.
