An all-star cast of country artists honored Randy Travis during the 1 Night. 1 Place. 1 Time: A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis concert on Wednesday night (Feb. 8). Garth BrooksChris YoungTravis Tritt, Scotty McCreery, Joe Nichols, Alabama, Kenny RogersRodney Atkins, Chris Janson, Jamey Johnson, Montgomery Gentry, Michael Ray, Ricky Skaggs, Tanya TuckerWynonna Judd, Alison Krauss and many more were on hand for the massive show at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

Travis, who was sporting an embroidered yellow jacket, sat sidestage throughout the show, along with his wife Mary; together, they greeted each of the evening's performers with hugs and handshakes, and watched as artist after artist took the stage to wow the crowd. Readers can see photos from the evening, as well as from rehearsals, in the photo gallery above.

Both onstage and backstage at 1 Night. 1 Place. 1 Time, the artists in attendance offered their own thoughts about Travis and his impact on the country music genre: “What doesn’t he mean to country music, especially to someone who grew up as a baritone singer in country music?” Young said (quote via the Tennessean); added Brooks, "There isn't anybody in country music today that doesn't owe their career to Randy Travis" (quote via SFGate.com).

During A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis, Warner Music Nashville, the icon's longtime record label, lauded Travis with an award recognizing his career achievements: more than 25 million albums sold, more than 20 No. 1 hits and half a dozen No. 1 albums. At the end of the night, Brooks turned the microphone over to Travis, who sang the last word of "Forever and Ever, Amen," and then led the night's full cast in "Amazing Grace" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken."

"I think his relationship with songs and music is what got him through this," Travis' wife Mary says, "and I can only imagine, once he starts talking to us again, what kind of songs that he’s going to give us.”

A portion of the proceeds from 1 Night. 1 Place. 1 Time: A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis will benefit the Randy Travis Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for stroke research and rehabilitation. Since his stroke in 2013, Travis has been largely unable to speak or sing; however, at a private funeral in early February of 2016 and his Country Music Hall of Fame induction in mid-October of 2016, Travis surprised those in attendance by singing a bit of “Amazing Grace;” he also took part in the opening medley at the 2016 CMA Awards, and has made numerous appearances at concerts and other events.
