News broke midday on Tuesday that Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian had accepted the same position with the Atlanta Falcons.

The former USC head coach was brought to Tuscaloosa as an offensive analyst last fall before his promotion to offensive coordinator in December. But after just one game in his new role, Sarkisian decided to leave college and head to the NFL.

Shortly after the Falcons confirmed the hire, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban released the following statement:

We appreciate all Coach Sarkisian did for our program during his time here. He is an outstanding coach, and we wish him the best in his new role as Atlanta’s offensive coordinator. As always, when we have an opening on our staff, we will use it as an opportunity to go out and hire the best coach available.

There is no news on a replacement at this time but that hire likely won't take too long.

Tune into Tide 102.9 all afternoon as we discuss the news and where Alabama will go next.
