As if we didn't have enough road construction going on in Tuscaloosa already, another project is set to begin this Monday (1/8).

The Alabama Department of Transportation, (ALDOT) is planning on adding more lanes to Interstate 20/59. These lanes are being added between Exit 73 and Exit 76. In addition, a crimson-colored arch bridge over McFarland Boulevard (US-82) is being constructed as part of the project, which will serve as a greeting for motorists to Tuscaloosa.

If it's any consolation, the construction is planned on taking place mainly during the overnight hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. ALDOT also says that two lanes in each direction will be open during daytime hours. However, they still urge drivers to exercise caution while workers are present, and to expect possible traffic delays during the construction period.

ALDOT is estimating that this project should take approximately 2 years to complete.

So, in other words, get ready to pack some Tylenol in your glove compartment.....
