Tuscaloosa's favorite holiday tradition returns for its biggest and best year yet when Holidays on the River opens Tuesday, December 6th!The annual event is made possible by the City of Tuscaloosa's Arts and Entertainment Department and its community partners--including Townsquare Media. It's your chance to celebrate the season in the most incredible way--you get to go ice skating right here in Tuscaloosa!

Yeah--ice skating in T-Town! Where else can you hit the rink OUTDOORS? It's always warm here down south--last year it was 80 degrees on Christmas Day--which means many of us have spent years watching our fave Christmas movies and wishing on a star/writing letters to Santa that we, too, would one day be able to ice skate outside for the holidays.

The City of Tuscaloosa made our dreams come true! Our forward-thinking Mayor (shoutout to Mayor Maddox!) and City Council brought Holidays on the River to Tuscaloosa, and it's been a huge hit ever since. This is the 5th year for Holidays on the River, and we couldn't be more excited for the fun!

Holidays on the River is nothing short of magical--the pit of the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater is transformed into a huge outdoor skating rink. They have hourly snow flurries, ice skate rentals, stands where you can sit and watch your friends and family skate, concessions like hotdogs, snacks, and hot cocoa--and Holidays on the River has SO MANY fun events planned this year!

You can view the gorgeous trees on the T-Town Tinsel Trail outside of the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, and on December 10th, you can come out to watch this year's Christmas Afloat river parade on the Black Warrior! There will be Christmas movie nights, visits from Santa Claus, and the Coca-Cola Kids Fun Zone.

We plan to broadcast LIVE from Holidays on the River, too--so check back and tune in for more details!

It's free to attend Holidays on the River, and it's just $10 for an hour of ice skating--your ticket price includes your skate rental, too! (All skaters are required to sign a safety waiver; you can check it out HERE.)
