Just in case you hadn't already planned to take Monday off, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has declared Monday July 3 a state holiday.

That means all non-essential state workers will be off and state off ices will be closed for an extended holiday weekend.

"All state offices will be closed on that date, except for those in areas where it is essential to maintain personnel.  If it is necessary for any employee to work that day, they should be allowed time off as soon thereafter as possible."

We like the sound of that!
