Mark your calendars for Egan's annual chili cook-off Saturday, February 17th. It's the "2018 Asses of Fire Chili Cook-off," and it's set to begin at 3 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m.

It's free to enter the competition, and you do not have to prepare your chili on-site. Entries may be submitted until 4 p.m. Here's more information from the event's official Facebook page:

"Entries will be scored on taste, presentation, and “x-factor”. Prizes are to be determined, yet there will most likely be a cash prize for first place and gifts from Tuscaloosa based businesses!

Fixings, spoons, bowls, etc. will be provided. Power outlets and strips will also be provided. Just bring your chili, ladles, and something to keep it warm.

The general public, ages 21 and over, is welcome to taste the chili entries after 4:00 P.M. A cost of $5 will be charged to whoever wishes to sample the chili entries available. Contest participants will be able to eat for free. Druid City Brewing will also be offering specials on their beer selections throughout the competition."

Entrants are encouraged to register in advance so event organizers know how many people will be in the competition. You can register HERE.
