The inaugural 'Roots Fest' is this Saturday and the City of Tuscaloosa has established an entertainment district for the day!

The family friendly festival will happen from 4-8 pm Saturday and is being presented by Local Roots food truck, Bank First and Alcove Tavern. A whole smoked hog will be cooked and accomplished singer/songwriter Adam Hood will provide the soundtrack. 'Roots Fest' will take place in the vacant lot immediately adjacent to Alcove at 720 22nd Avenue.

The entertainment district will allow patrons to leave establishments within the zone with an alcoholic drink without penalty.

If you’d like to participate in the district, there are a few rules:

  • You must purchase a drink from a participating vendor
  • The drink you purchase must remain in the designated Entertainment District cup.
  • Outside containers are not allowed.

For updates, follow the ‘Roots Fest’ event page.
