Alabama Department of Public Health Confirms 25 Cases of Zika Virus in 16 Counties
The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed 25 cases of the Zika Virus within our state. According to a press release from the ADPH, Zika cases have been confirmed in the following Alabama counties:
- Calhoun
- Cullman
- Etowah
- Houston
- Jefferson
- Lawrence
- Lee
- Limestone
- Madison
- Mobile
- Montgomery
- Morgan
- Shelby
- St. Clair
- Talladega
- Tuscaloosa
ADPH officials warn residents to use caution as cases of the virus within the state continue to rise. One of the best ways to avoid contacting the virus is to wear insect repellent and/or long-sleeved shirts and pants while outdoors. Removing standing water will also prevent the spread of the virus by reducing the mosquito population.
