A new interstate connecting 5 southern states, including Alabama, could be coming in the future.

Interstate 14 is the proposed highway, and it would run from west Texas through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

Experts say the route would run through the central portions of each state. Running from east to west, Interstate 14 would start in El Paso Texas and end in Augusta, Georgia.

In Alabama, the proposed Interstate 14 would include the cities of Selma, Montgomery and Phenix City.  In Mississippi. the proposed road would run through the cities of Natchez, Laurel and Meridian.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer newspaper out of Columbus, Georgia reports that a Columbus media firm has already produced a video which provides compelling reasons on why the highway should be built. The video stated that, “Economic prosperity comes from trade, and Interstate 14 is about connecting places. It will connect forts, it will connect ports, it will connect major cities.”
