A teenager is expected to recover after being shot outside a Tuscaloosa apartment complex Wednesday night, according to police investigating the incident.

Captain Gary Hood, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the 14-year-old victim was walking near the Creekwood Village apartments on 40th Avenue when two men dressed in all-black clothing jumped out at him, brandishing a gun. The teenager ran away and was shot while fleeing.

Hood said the victim does not know who shot him, but police recovered several 9mm shell casings near the scene and the case is pending further investigation.
